Homework Policy for Mrs. Tedford's 3rd Grade:

Each night the children will have a bit of homework. (except on Friday) They should be reviewing their spelling words each night.  They can write them, mold them, say them out loud, or trace them.  Each style is one practice. They may also have math, writing, or special area homework to complete.  It shouldn't take more than a half hour to complete.

During most of the year we are keeping track of the reading they do outside of school.  There may be a calendar to record the number of minutes they should be reading each night.  In October I will begin the Pizza Hut Book It! reading project.  More information about this project will be posted soon.

If they had any class work that was incomplete they will be bringing that home to finish.  I am keeping a record of what needs to be completed.  I will give them a warning if when they forget to return their work the first time.  The next time they will have to stay in at lunch time to complete the work. If the problem continues they may have to stay after school to complete their work.

On Fridays I will working with the children on how to manage their desks.  There are times when things may be overflowing and I need to step in so that they can find their work.  When this happens you may see a great deal of extra papers sent home.  Review the bottom of the page to see if their work is from the current week or a previous one. Work from a week that has past does not have to be returned.

Please check their backpacks each night.  They may be carrying work for you to complete.

If you ever have any questions you can reach me at school on the phone or email me. My email is stedford@catskillcsd.org
