Tips for Parents

* Put a priority on reading and demonstrate it by reading with your child for at least 30 minutes each night.

* Show your enthusiasm for education by taking an active interest in your child's schooling.

* Attend school functions like Back To School night, Open House and PTA meetings.

* Have a conference with your child's counselor and teachers.

* Take time to talk with your child about his/her daily activities.

* Talk about teachers and school in a positive way in front of your child.

 * Encourage your child to participate in the "extras" available at school.

* Become familiar with homework and makeup polices.

* Find out when teachers are available to your child for extra help.

* Monitor the number of hours your child watches TV and plays video games.

* Encourage your child to learn how to learn.

* Make sure your child eats a healthy-well balanced breakfast.

* Regular attendance at school will make the difference between academic success and failure. Be sure that your child is on time and at  school everyday.
