CATSKILL SPRING RUSH
“Expressing Education through Action”
The students of Catskill High School’s Business Club are ready to host the 5th Annual Catskill Spring Rush triathlon. With the help of many stakeholders in the community the event will kickoff Saturday, June 6 at 8:30 am at the high school. All of the community is invited to be part of this exciting event that will include music, food, the Spring Sprint children’s race, awards, and fun. Information can be found a www.steinersports.com and www.welcometocatskill.com.
The Spring Rush includes a 5k-run, 15k-bike, and kayak/canoe. All participants will receive a shirt, water on the course, and lunch at the conclusion of the event, and Trophies and/or Medals for top three event class winners. The events are Iron Man, Iron Woman, Team, and the Steiner’s Cup high school competition.
By popular demand we have added new divisions. We have added a 50 and over division as well as a combined 150 and older for teams. This will offer more awards for our deserving athletes. We will also be offering whole fruits for all of or participants. This was another request from our members.
The Spring Sprint for children 12 and under will start at 9am. The race will include a run on the track and bike along a safe school route managed by students, safety personnel, and staff. Awards will be given as well as a T-shirt and lunch for all participants.
In the past three years the Spring Rush has drawn over 100 participants, from as far as England and Virginia to compete in the community event. Most astonishingly, is that it has also consistently drawn a 1:1 ratio of volunteers to participants, making this event very safe and fun!
Community, teacher, and student volunteers will assist in the implementation and monitoring of the route to compliment the State, Village, Town, and County public safety officers on site. Police, Fire, Public Works, and EMS personnel will make sure we have a safe outcome. Execution of safety procedures, financial help, and organization are the catalyst for this successful Spring Rush.
The Catskill Business Club has been marketing to sponsors and participants over the last month. Sponsorship information have been distributed to local businesses and signup forms were past out to our dedicated participants. All forms are available from the school office and on-line. If you are interested in sponsoring or participating in this community event please contact the Catskill Business Club us at phernand@catskillcsd.org or 518-943-2300 ask for Advisor Mr. Hernandez.
