What is Rachel's Challenge?

Rachel Joy Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999.  Her acts of kindness and

compassion in combination with the contents of her diaries have become the foundation for a presentation called

Rachel's Challenge.

“I have this theory that if one person

can go out of their way to show

compassion then it will start a

chain reaction of the same.”

                        - Rachel Joy Scott

After seeing the Rachel's Challenge presentation, many schools across the country have set up Friends of Rachel clubs to

decimate violence and bullying.

As a member of Friends of Rachel, you are asked to accept five challenges:

  1. Eliminate prejudice

  2. Dare to dream

  3. Choose your influences

  4. Use Kind Words

  5. Start a chain reaction

Catskill Central School District has accepted the challenge.
