Nutrition

This new Food Pyramid sure is confusing...  how much bread can I eat in one day?  Am I eating too much protein?  Why are fruits and vegetables so important?

Do you want to do well in school? Do you want to excel in a sport? Good nutrition is the foundation for health and development. Better nutrition means a stronger immune system, less illness and better health. Healthy children learn better. They are stronger and more productive. When students have eaten a good meal, they are more likely to be able to pay attention in classes which in turn will lead to better grades. Good nutritional values also help teenagers outside the classroom! Athletes who eat well and drink a lot of water will perform better than those who have not. Being nutritious will benefit you for the rest of your life. Why not start now!?

Unhealthy eating and inactivity contribute to 310,000 to 580,000 deaths each year according to the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  That's 13 times more than are killed by guns and 20 times more than by drug use.  The links below can help you with that information.
