GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Beginning with the class of 2013, students will be offered a Regents or an Advanced Regents Diploma.  Local diplomas will be offered only to students with disabilities as required in the studentís IEP.  Some students with disabilities will be offered C-DOS credential.

 

All students are required to participate in a minimum of ten (10) hours per year of community service in order to qualify for graduation from high school.

 

Any student who does not pass one year of a Foreign Language must take and pass a Language Proficiency Exam.

B.  Pass all Regents Exams described under "Testing", with a minimum grade of 65.

 Advanced Regents Diploma Class of 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

A.  Students must meet all requirements for a Regents diploma, as outlined on the previous page, plus:

 B.  Pass all Regents Exams as described under the testing section, with a minimum grade of 65.

 C.  Pass both the Algebra, Geometry & Algebra II/Trig.

 D.  Pass one additional Regents Exam in Science, for a total of two Regents

      Science Exams, with at least one in Life Science and one in Physical Science.

 E.  Earn 3 units of credit in a Foreign Language and pass the Regents Exam in that language or

A student may substitute a 5-unit sequence in Career & Technical Education as follows:

  5-unit Occupational Education Sequence includes:

                        1 unit - Career & Financial Applications

                        1 unit - Computer Essentials I and II 

                        3 units - Business or Technology or Family & Consumer Science or Vocational Education at Questar III Career Tech Center

 C-DOS- Career Development and Occupational Studies Commencement Credential 

  1. Students with disabilities other than those who are assessed using the NYS Alternate Assessment (NYSSA)
  1. Completes a career plan; demonstrates attainment of the commencement level Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) learning standards in the area of career exploration and development, integrated learning and universal foundation skills; satisfactorily completes the equivalent of 2 units of study (216 hours) in Career and Technical Education coursework and work-based learning (including at least 54 hours of work-based learning); and has at least 1 completed employability profile; or student must meet  the criteria for a national work readiness credential.
  1. Credential may be a supplement to a regular diploma, or, if the student is unable to meet diploma standards, the credential may be awarded as the studentís exiting credential provided the student has attended school for not less than 12 years, excluding Kindergarten.
