- Obtain scholarship information from all
available sources, such as counseling newsletters and online resources

- Complete college applications, ideally by
December 1st
- Print the "FAFSA on the Web Worksheet".
This form will help you gather the necessary information to complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Visit
www.fafsa.ed.gov
- Apply for outside funding and
scholarships
- Check counseling newsletter for updated
scholarship information
January
- Submit your completed FAFSA online as
soon after January 1st as possible
- KEEP COPIES OF ALL FORMS YOU SUBMIT
- Parents: It's helpful to get your
income tax returns prepared early - schools may request them to prove
eligibility for financial aid
- Complete any other required financial aid
forms
- Attend CHS Alumni Visit to hear about
College Freshmen's first semester
February
- Senior mid-term grades mailed to colleges
from the counseling center at the request of the student
- Submit FAFSA online, if not already done
- Rank your finalized list of colleges
- Respond quickly to college requests for
additional information
March
- Submit tax forms to the financial aid
office if requested
- Contact each office to make sure your
application is complete
- Determine what else you need to do to
establish and maintain your eligibility for financial aid
- Watch the mail for your Student Aid
Report (SAR)
April
- Watch the mail for college acceptance and
financial aid award letters
- Compare financial aid awards you recieve
- Submit copies of acceptance/denial
letters to the counseling center
- Make your final decision and send in a
deposit by the deadline
- Check with the college you have chosen to
attend and obtain information regarding the details of signing and
returning financial aid award letters
- Notify other schools that you will not be
attending
- Watch for important deadlines at your
chosen college (housing, financial aid, etc)
May
- Continue to search for scholarships
- Evaluate student loan lenders
- Look for a summer job and save money for
school
June
- Complete senior post-high school survey
and return to counseling center
- Attend "Making College & Career Count"
Presentation at CHS
- Final transcripts are sent to chosen
college
- GRADUATION!
