Dear Parents:
The Catskill Central School District will again be offering the Ambassador’s Club. The club advisors are Wendy Casalino and Lisa Noyes. Our function is to offer assistance to students who are having difficulties socially “fitting in”. Both of us have been trained in teaching social and behavioral skills to students. Mrs. Casalino is a certified Special Education teacher and Mrs. Noyes is a certified Math teacher and comes with a vast knowledge of the autism spectrum.
The club will meet twice a month and offer a two- part curriculum for students at a secondary level who need to learn and then practice social skills. The first part will focus on “Social Skills That Are Helpful and Necessary” which is an intensive collection of lessons that focus on 20 basic social skills. The second part focuses on “Social Skills in Action” which consists of more general applications of these social skills in settings, situations, or problems.
With your permission, we would like to invite your son / daughter _________________________ to join our group. Attached you will find the general dates of our meetings. Due to unplanned circumstances, a date may have to be changed, but the students and you will be told in advance at school. Also, we ask that you share your email address with us if possible so that we could communicate changes in our schedule via email with you as well as monitor your son or daughter’s progress. All meetings will be held in Rm. 27 in the Middle School from 3:00 pm – 3:45 pm. Snacks will be served and transportation on the 4:00 pm bus will be provided.
